These three words have always held a special place in my heart, and they became even more meaningful when I had the incredible opportunity to work as a camera operator for BBC Introducing Hereford and Worcester. Join me on a journey behind the lens as I share the highlights of this unforgettable experience.

The Call of the BBC: A Dream Come True
As a passionate videographer and photographer, the idea of working with the BBC was nothing short of a dream come true. When I received that call, inviting me to be a part of their team for BBC Introducing, I was thrilled beyond words. Little did I know that this project would be a turning point in my career.

Capturing Local Talent and Passion
BBC Introducing is renowned for its dedication to showcasing local talent and undiscovered gems in the world of music. Hereford and Worcester, with its vibrant music scene, was the perfect backdrop for the project. From indie rock bands to acoustic solo artists, I had the privilege of capturing the raw passion and energy of these talented musicians on film. Not only , but also gaining valuable insight into the industry and creating long lasting connections.

The Challenges of Live Recording
One of the most exhilarating aspects of this project was the live recording element. Filming live performances is a different beast altogether, requiring split-second decision-making and a keen eye for detail. From adjusting camera angles to capturing the perfect shot in real-time, every moment was a thrilling challenge. Luckily I was not alone in this task, I had the full team to help. They understood how to record the raw audio so all I had to do was focus on filming which was such a relief.

Working as Part of a Collaborative Team
Behind every great production is a team of dedicated professionals, and the BBC Introducing crew was no exception. From sound engineers to producers, we all worked seamlessly together to create a visually stunning and sonically captivating experience for our viewers and listeners Filming as part of a team for the BBC Introducing was an amazing experience to learn new skills in sound engineering and working collaboratively as a team.

The Magic of Editing
After the live recordings, it was time to weave the footage into a cohesive narrative. The editing process was where the real magic happened. It was here that I saw the pieces come together to tell the story of these incredibly talented artists and their music. I worked with another freelancer on this who is very experienced in sound engineering, this helped as I had expertises in the filming and editing aspects. Combining our skills we edited the video that you can watch on the BBC Sounds Player.

A Grateful Heart
Reflecting on this experience, I'm filled with gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to BBC Introducing Hereford and Worcester. It was an honour to be part of a platform that supports emerging artists and celebrates local music scenes across the UK.
